WRITING CROSSOVER FICTION

Freeing Authors to Explore New Worlds

First there was just plain romance. Then came romantic suspense. Eventually paranormal romantic suspense. Not to mention lots of sub-genres in between. So what´s next? How can a character-driven, plot-savvy romance author challenge herself and keep her writing life interesting? How about writing a story that would appeal to romance, thriller, action-adventure, fantasy and horror readers? Random House calls THE LAST VAMPIRE the first in a vampire thriller series. On other days, they call it Urban Fantasy. Patricia and her new writing partner Marc Paoletti call it a Dark Fantasy Romantic Action Thriller. Whatever it´s called, the publisher bought it as crossover fiction that would appeal to a wide audience. How do authors combine such diverse elements into a cohesive whole?
